Pella Cycling Club Meeting Minutes
February 7, 2008

  1. The meeting was held in Central College's Vermeer Science Center in Room 166.
  2. The executive team was introduced. Officers for 2008 are:
    Corinne and Gary Verhoef: Co-Presidents
    Tim Carlo: Vice President
    Corrine Verschuure: Secretary-Treasurer
  3. The schedule for the year was reviewed.
    - Club meetings will be Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 and Thursday, June 12 at 7:00. Both are scheduled to be held at the Pella Library.
    - Show n' Go rides will be every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. from April 22 to Oct. 6, and Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. from April 26 to Oct. 11.
    - A ride schedule was handed out and will be available on our website. This has many of the area rides listed. We carpool or travel as a group to many of these rides. Contact Gary or Corinne Verhoef at pellabiker@juno.com or call 641-628-9593, for meeting place and time. E-mail reminders will be sent prior to the ride.
  4. Dan Applegate presented some of his RAGBRAI 2007 pictures.
  5. Discussed RAGBRAI 2008
    - Co-ordinators this year are Gary and Corinne Verhoef
    - Register on the RAGBRAI website and send waiver and fees to Corinne Verhoef by March 7
    - Dates: July 19-July 26
    - Support crew is still needed
    - We need housing for all overnight towns, except July 23
    • July 19 - Missouri Valley
    • July 20 - Harlan
    • July 21 - Jefferson
    • July 22 - Ames
    • July 23 - Tama Toledo (have a host home already)
    • July 24 - North Liberty
    • July 25 - Tipton
    • July 26 - Le Claire (usually find a church parking lot, but are open to other options)
    - New PCC RAGBRAI fee structure was handed out and discussed. See PCC RAGBRAI 2008 Fee Calculator.
    • Transportation to Missouri Valley and from Le Claire will be via a 47 passenger motor coach. Cost for one-way is $35.
    • Fee for a week-long rider is $80 (includes host & bus driver gratuities; baggage hauled between overnights towns)
    • Fee for a day-rider is $20
    • A $25 discount will be applicable for those who actively participate in the club throughout the year. To qualify you must help with 2-3 club tasks this year. (Examples - help with Tour de Rock, help with Bike Rodeo, help with safety checks at Howell, etc.)
    • The Club bus will be used to haul baggage during the week and for showers
    - Other dates:
    • June 26 - no additional riders accepted for the PCC RAGBRAI team
    • July 12 - No refunds for PCC fees if you cannot make the ride. There will be no refund of RAGBRAI fees after March 7. You must sell your own RAGBRAI pass if you cannot go.
